Push Therapy is a specialized muscle treatment that primarily addresses chronic or acute pain originating from muscle, tendon or soft ligaments. Push Therapy is not massage. Push lengthens the muscle at its resting state and increases blood flow. If you suffer from the following conditions Push may be able to eliminate the cause of your pain complaint:
Carpal Tunnel
Headaches
TMJ
Leg or knee pain
Plantar Fasciitis
Shoulder issues
Low back ache
Hip discomfort
Push is a systematic therapy that includes client education. The education empowers the client to help support the work. Since Push is a system with protocols it eliminates the need for endless appointments.
As a Certified Push Therapist and a National Certified Massage Therapist, it would be my honor to help you on your path to wellness.
I have over 1000 hours of education that encompasses several modalities. I have found Push Therapy to be a dynamic specialized muscle treatment that helps you achieve long-term relief from chronic and acute pain caused by muscle, tendon and ligament issues. It is especially effective for repetitive use injuries.
What is so unique about this therapy is that it educates the client about how muscles tighten and release. The most empowering aspect is that the client is taught self treatments. Self treatments support the work between sessions and helps decrease the number of sessions required to keep you pain free.
There is a treatment plan. The number of sessions depends on many factors such as the severity of the issue and how long you have been in pain. You will be taught Push Therapy postures that will help keep your body in a healthy alignment. Once you have achieved your goal wellness check-ups are available.
What is Push Therapy?
Push stands for pressure under soft hands. It is a specialized muscle therapy that lengthens the muscle at rest. What this means is that acute and chronic pain, pain from repetitive use, or injury causes the muscle to contract and blood flow is restricted. Push focuses on eliminating the contraction which relieves pain and increases blood flow.
Will I undress?
Push sessions are done fully clothed. Please wear comfortable clothes but not jeans or items with heavy seams.
What happens during a Push session?
Your structure is evaluated and you are shown areas that are not in proper alignment. The next step is to lay on the table, tension rises and many times part of the body do not touch the table, such as neck, wrists, lower back, knees, ankles. You tell the therapist where there is pain or tension in your body. Together we decide the treatment plan. Work is then begun to get you on your path to wellness.
Why should I drink water before and after my session?
Our bodies need water and especially our muscles. A hydrated muscle will release toxins and return to a healthy state much faster than dehydrated tissue. The by-product of a fatigued or contacted muscle is lactic acid, when this is pushed from your muscle your body needs help eliminating it. It is suggested that you drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces everyday but especially a couple of days before and after your session to eliminate the possibility of flu like symptoms and for better health. For example if you weigh 100 lbs then you would drink 50 ounces.
If you add a bit of apple cider vinegar to your water it will help remove
the lactic acid from your tissue.
Is Push like massage?
Push isn't massage. Massage has many wonderful benefits such as stress relief but it doesn't include a treatment plan, nor does it typically address structural issues that cause pain and discomfort. The goals of Push Therapy are to lengthen muscles at rest and change the soft-tissue structure of the body.
Who should not receive a Push Therapy session?
Many soft-tissue modalities have contraindications, Push Therapy is no different. Some of the contraindications are: pregnancy, cancer, rotator cuff tears, severe osteoporosis, bone spurs, recent surgery or bone fractures. Please consult your qualified healthcare provider if you have any questions regarding your health and medical decisions.
Please remember to wear comfortable clothing (no jeans or clothes with heavy seams) and drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water a couple of days before and a few days afterward. For example if you weight 100 lbs. drink 50 oz of water.
